Jersey Coast Academy Boys basketball program announced the hiring of former 1985 Villanova University champion Dwight Wilbur as Head Coach.

Wilbur joins the Jersey Coast Academy Boys basketball staff after serving Six years as the head coach for Berkeley College in Woodland Park. Wilbur was also a member of the 1985 NCAA Division I Championship Villanova University men's basketball team, the lowest seeded team, entering the tournament as an #8 seed, to take home the NCAA crown.

Prior to coaching at Berkeley, Wilbur served as a volunteer coach for Northwood University and Cleveland State University as well as the assistant varsity boys basketball coach at Montclair High School. Along with his own coaching experience, Wilbur has served under two former NBA All-Stars as well under Rick Barry for the New Jersey Shore Cats of the United States Basketball League (USBL) and under Darryl Dawkins for the USBL Pennsylvania Valley Dawgs.

Aside from coaching, Wilbur also serves as a teacher at Glenfield Middle School in Montclair and has experience as a Director of Sports Media for Software Reproduction Technologies in New York, an Urban Project Coordinator for Boost Mobile, and the Sports Coordinator for Anaconda Sports in New York.

Wilbur graduated from Villanova University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts in communication and marketing. He currently resides in Paterson and has four Children.

Coach Coven Baumgardner has devoted the last 30 years of his life to coaching and educating urban youth. He has distinguished himself as a stand out individual, is a devoted mentor, has conducted summer camps and clinics in both basketball and football, and is always giving back to his community.

As head coach of Promoting Progress for Youth (PPY), coach Baumgardner was able to lead his team to six championship seasons in an eight year period. He is always actively involved in his school community and has served as assistant football coach for Asbury Park High School, assistant basketball coach for Collegiate Prep in Passaic NJ, and head basketball coach for Project Oasis in Montclair NJ.

Coach Coven Baumgardner has been married to his loving wife Kathy Baumgardner for almost 12 years, is the father of two boys and two girls, and the proud grandfather of two girls and two boys. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration at Upsala College in East Orange New Jersey. Coach Baumgardner now resides in Jackson New Jersey.
